Volunteer Crawley

Specialist Volunteers

One of the aspects of volunteering that Volunteer Crawley supports is Specialist Volunteering. This could be:
• Teams that would like to volunteer for a one off project as part of a team building day
• Projects that need a larger team of volunteers (eg gardening, decorating or marshalling at an event)
• Opportunities that need specialist skills such as trustees

If you would like to include your event or team on this page, please contact Volunteer Crawley on 01293 657148 or at Volunteering@crawleycvs.org

Opportunity for a volunteer team - a team day of gift wrapping and decorative box painting

South of England Agricultural Society

This is an opportunity for a team to enjoy a day of gift-wrapping, hosted by the South of England Agricultural Society. The team will wrap 200 small gifts for the Winter Fair – an exciting event with enchanting entertainment, live music, fantastic food and inspirational shopping.

There is also a fun, practical and creative opportunity to paint large boxes to look like presents for the Winter Fair. This activity would take place in the workshop at the South of England Showground, and the team would work together with minimum supervision to paint the boxes and paint a ribbon on each.

The team(s) will be hosted at the South of England Showground in Ardingly. All materials and refreshments throughout the day will be provided. Dates are flexible, project to be completed before 24 November.

The South of England Agricultural Society will give up to 10 team members a free ticket to the Winter Fair. Children are admitted free, so team members will be able to bring their children to join in the fun of the event.

Please contact Elaine at Volunteer Crawley if your team would like to take up this opportunity, or if you would like to find out more.

Citizens Advice in West Sussex (North, South, East)

Would you like to include volunteering roles with Citizens Advice in your advice packages to retirees, those facing redundancy or working reduced hours? Citizens Advice offers highly rewarding and intellectually stimulating roles at its offices across Central and South Sussex, including Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Worthing and Shoreham. This enables those leaving your organisation to:
• Give back to their community
• Keep mentally and socially active
• Use skills gained through their extensive work and life experiences
• Continue in an office environment being part of a team with all the positive aspects this brings
Citizens Advice would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about this further.

Event First Aid Service Volunteers

The British Red Cross

The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.
British Red Cross Volunteers are fully trained in advanced first aid and are ready to help at any occasion, from a community event to a stadium-sized rock concert. Their knowledge can be vital in saving lives. Volunteers for these roles will need to have good communication and teamwork skills, and an understanding of the needs of people of different ages, backgrounds and physical needs. Volunteers will need to be physically fit to carry out first aid procedures. The role involves providing first aid care, helping other members of the team to set up and dismantle first aid posts, and completing records of care given. Volunteers must have or be willing to work towards a recognised first aid qualification, and full training will be offered. A minimum commitment of 50 hours annually is requested, and a DBS check will be required.

Team challenge

Active Prospects

Active Prospects enables people with learning difficulties, mental and physical health needs to live full and aspiring lives.

Are you up for a team challenge? This is a project for a team of volunteers to source quality stock for the charity shop, perhaps by making up donation sacks and carrying out a door drop, or organising a workplace collection. The aim is to collect total donations of the highest value.
