Local charity nominates Asda Crawley for an award

Local charity nominates Asda Crawley for an award

The Challenge

Crawley CVS recently asked its members to nominate local businesses to recognise the contribution they had made to the local community in Crawley. Home-Start contacted Crawley CVS to nominate Asda Crawley in for arranging a collection and donating Christmas toys and Easter Eggs which Home Start have then passed onto some of the families it supports in the Crawley area.

The Solution

Crawley CVS were delighted to invite Asda Crawley and Home Start CHAMS to it’s offices to present them with a Corporate Supporters Award.
Liz Roe, the Scheme Manager of Home Start CHAMS and chair of Young Crawley Children & Families Forum said:“The parents are very moved when we distribute toys and eggs to them. They say that it shows them that people are thinking about them, and for some of them this doesn’t happen often.
We have also given some of the toys to families who have fled domestic violence into temporary accommodation or a refuge – because they flee with nothing and the children wouldn’t have anything to play with otherwise. These children are already disturbed by the things they have seen and heard and the fact that everything familiar has been taken away for them so to give them something to play with makes a big difference.”

“By advertising our fundraising events CCVS has helped us to reach people and organisations that we probably wouldn't have been able to reach without your help”
