The Challenge

Patricia came to Volunteer Crawley looking for a volunteering role but wasn’t sure what she could do that would help.

The Solution

Patricia Beeston has been volunteering since early 2011, and now has roles with 4Sight, Crawley Library and the Macular Disease Group, ranging from befriender to secretary. “I wasn’t sure what I could do that would help, but CCVS was very skilful in matching my abilities, temperament and circumstances to the sort of volunteering that would suit me and enable me to contribute. The best thing about the roles is that I have made new friends and gained understanding and not a little admiration for the way many vulnerable people address and cope with their daily lives. For anyone thinking of volunteering, I would advise getting an in-depth assessment of what you would like and are most suited to doing for the long term. Helping others is very rewarding.”

“It was very good to have so many organisations together at the AGM - very easy to find organisations we wanted to talk to.”
