Hilton hotel supports local community

The Challenge

Crawley CVS first met representatives from Hilton London Gatwick Airport at the Lord Lieutenants Business event in April 2013 when they indicated that they wanted to support the local Voluntary Sector. Their Global Week of Service is a company-wide initiative that focuses on spreading the light and warmth of hospitality to their communities through Team Member volunteerism.

Around the same time, CCVS were approached by Crawley Youth & Community Centre who needed volunteers to maintain the garden at their Youth Centre.

The Solution

We were able to introduce the two organisations and some team members from Hilton London Gatwick Airport hotel spent a day at Crawley Youth & Community Centre doing some gardening activities such as: cutting, hedging, digging, cleaning and even planting! Bettina Maduro-Malpica, the Marketing Manager at the Hilton Gatwick commented that “Without a doubt it was a really rewarding day, we all worked really hard and were able to exceed our own expectations as well as the ones from the management team at the community centre. Overall, it was a superb experience and we were more than happy to be able to help out our community.”
Centre Manager, Raj Sharma was equally enthusiastic about the project “The team from Hilton were just fantastic at what they did. Very organised, professional and co-operative. They did a magnificent job at the Youth Centre, we could not have done this without their help. I am glad that they are being honoured with a Corporate Supporters Award.”

“CCVS' best support comes from representing the sector and publicising our work in the newsletter.”
