‘Foodraising’ not fundraising reaps huge rewards for local charities

‘Foodraising’ not fundraising reaps huge rewards for local charities

The Challenge

Staff from PwC Gatwick participated in the first ‘One Ton Challenge’ to collect food for a wide range of local charities which serve food and deliver food parcels for those in need.

The Solution

Resourceful employees took to the streets, parades, shops and supermarkets of Crawley in support of local charities which deal with the effects of homelessness and disadvantage.

The innovative challenge saw 1,188 kilos of food collected in just one day. The food will be redistributed to local charities by Crawley Food Collective, a project run by Crawley Community & Voluntary Service.

Presenting them with a Corporate Supporters Award, Rachel Booles, Chief Executive of Crawley Community & Voluntary Service said “This is a phenomenal achievement. Charities which work with the homeless, families in crisis and isolated older people will all benefit from the efforts of PwC staff and the generous donors. PwC have really set the bar very high for future challenges.”

Matt Cannon who organised the PwC staff teams said “It was a cracking event and everyone really enjoyed themselves. It was definitely seen as a huge success on our part.”

“We benefit from information sharing and networking through the Mental Health Forum and the Children and Young People’s Partnership Forum”
