The Challenge

Learning & Educational Advancement Programme(L.E.A.P) are a voluntary community group which was formed in November 2005 by parents of children from Black Asian Minority Ethnic communities to help and support children who wanted to learn Asian languages in Crawley and surrounding areas. Currently they have teachers who can teach Urdu, Bengali and reading of Quran in Arabic the classes run every Monday to Wednesday from 5-7 pm.

They came to CCVS for advice and guidance on funding and venue hire.

The Solution

They were offered information and support on applying for funds and we showed them the ‘The Tree Annexe’ as a possible option to run the group meetings in 2007. Since then they have been a member of CCVS and said: CCVS has supported us in applying for small grants, discounted rates for room hire, excellent training for staff & volunteers and has provided information and guidance through its newsletter and forums. We prefer the use of this venue over others as it is economical, reasonably accessible via public transport, reasonable parking spaces, good security measures and a friendly team of staff that is always there to help…Many thanks !”

“As a frontline organisation, we value support in partnership working. CCVS brings additional expertise and time that we do not have in order to develop our partnership working. It also provides the independence that other frontline organisations would not necessarily have”
