CCVS encourages working together
Crawley Council for Voluntary Service continues to encourage organisations to work together in areas of common interest and therefore service four fora:
Crawley Community Relations Forum
The purpose of the forum is to bring together service providers and consumers so that providers can be informed of the needs and interests of consumers and advise and report on how those needs might be met. Membership of this Forum is defined as any person, group or agency wishing to act positively in pursuit of this purpose. Commonly, but not exclusively representatives from statutory and voluntary agencies will be seen to be in the category of provider. Consumers shall be interpreted usually as persons or groups seen to have a black or minority ethnic background.
Crawley Housing and Homelessness Forum
The key aim of the forum is “to provide an inclusive forum for housing providers, agencies and individuals dealing with housing and homelessness within the borough to discuss issues of concern, comment collectively on these issues to the Council and relevant agencies and, where appropriate, make recommendations for action”.
The role and purpose of the Forum include:
- acting as a body for consultation
- identifying housing issues and priorities in the Borough
- acting as a lobby group to promote housing issues both within the Borough, regionally and nationally
- facilitating the exchange of best practice
Crawley Older Persons Forum
The Forum promotes the welfare and well being of the older person within Crawley and the surrounding area and is a coming together of those individuals and bodies that aim to support, inform and help the older person. Our mission will be to bring together the problems faced by those individuals/bodies and try to find solutions by having a united voice in our dealings with authority.
The Forum works in conjunction with those voluntary organisations that are already in existence to better improve delivery of these services for the older person.
Forum members look at the problems faced by the older person either as individuals or groups and lobbies for improvements through the appropriate bodies.
Crawley Parenting Forum
The purpose of the forum is to maintain the profile of parenting and parenting needs in Crawley; to act as a focus for voluntary, community and statutory agencies working together to help parents bringing up children; to provide a forum for the exchange of information between groups and individuals working with families in Crawley; to provide a forum where the views and concerns regarding parenting issues in Crawley are considered and taken forward; to ensure that up to date information regarding support groups, agencies and sources of advice is available to Crawley parents and any groups working for or with parents; to promote the help available from member groups through a regular event and relevant publicity opportunities.
All of the above mentioned fora act as platforms to highlight, discuss and act upon issues that are relevant to the community. For more information or if you would like to attend, please contact CCVS Tel: 01293 657000.
