The Public Service Board
The Public Service Board (PSB) was set up in West Sussex to oversee the operation of the Local Area Agreement (LAA) in the county.
The LAA is effectively a business plan, agreed between the County Council (acting on behalf of its partner agencies) and the Government Office of the South East to achieve a range of outcomes within the county. The outcomes fall under four main headings: Better Skills for a Better Future; Feeling Safer; Better Health for All and Sustainable Communities.
Each heading is broken down into a range of fairly broad outcomes and then detailed targets and indicators.
Because meeting the targets in the LAA cannot be achieved by the county council alone, the PSB was established to bring together the key agencies involved, initially to agree the targets and indicators and now to monitor whether or not they are being reached.
The voluntary and community sector in West Sussex has six representatives on the PSB. One for each of the borough and district council areas with Worthing and Adur combined. Nominations for representatives were held in each area and in Crawley Liz Lamport, Chief Officer of the Council for Voluntary Service, was elected.
PSB Papers
Notes of the Public Service Board workshop held on 26th July 2010, to look at how agencies in West Sussex should work together in the current climate of reduced funding and reduced central government control over local activities.
Please forward any comments or thoughts about the PSB to Liz Lamport via e-mail. Please add 'PSB Comments' in the subject box.
