Why join Crawley Council for Voluntary Services?
CRAWLEY COUNCIL FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE (CCVS) is an independent voluntary organisation and registered charity whose members are local voluntary organisations. The work of CCVS is managed by a Board, comprised of representatives of member organisations, elected at the AGM. CCVS provides support and service to voluntary organisations in Crawley. Below are some of the services currently provided.
Information
Our newsletter is published 10 times per annum and other mailings provide information on local events and organisations, regional and national activities and legislation. A Community Information Directory gives details of organisations in Crawley. Our Resource Room contains information on training, volunteering, disabilities, funding, etc.
Resources
A photocopying service is available, equipment such as display boards, guillotine, tombola barrel, and collecting tins can be borrowed. Members can use our laptop and/or projector (for use on site only – a small deposit is required which is refunded after use). Two meeting rooms at The Orchard and two meeting rooms at The Tree Annexe are available for hire. The Seminar Room (at The Tree) includes TV and VCR and The Longley Room (at The Orchard) includes TV, DVD and VCR.
Liaison/Representation
CCVS promotes partnership between statutory, community and voluntary sectors to help provide much needed services for their client groups. We encourage organisations to put forward their views on local and national policies and decisions. Open meetings, training events, seminars, consultations and regular forums are organised to share information and encourage partnership work.
Support
Direct practical support and advice is given on starting a new group, charity registration, constitutions, employment and charity law and help to existing groups dealing with problems or changes. Drop in sessions are available for voluntary groups, bookable in advance.
Fundraising
Guidance on funding applications including the lottery and other sources of funding is given. The Funder Finder Database contains information on a wide range of potential funding sources.
Volunteer Centre
Our Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator actively promotes volunteering in all its various aspects. Volunteering is promoted, volunteers recruited and matched with vacancies in local organisations. Good practice in using volunteers or being a volunteer is promoted.
